Job summary

Helix is seeking Senior/Staff Bioinformatics Engineers to bridge genomic variant data with clinical insights. You'll productionize curation workflows and guide AI agents to scale pipelines for real patients.

You'll work with scientists, product, and clinical teams to align software with scientific requirements, and own defined projects end-to-end at Senior, or set direction across the product area at Staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related field; 7+ years (Senior) or 9+ years (Staff) of software development, or Master/PhD with 3+ (Senior) or 5+ (Staff).
• Proficiency in production-grade Python, databases, and AWS.
• Experience productionizing and scaling AI/ML software, agentic systems.
• Collaboration with scientists to integrate bioinformatics/NGS tools into workflows.

Responsibilities

• Productionize curation workflows for AI/ML variant classification.
• Automate evidence integration from ClinVar, gnomAD, PubMed.
• Collaborate with scientists, product, and clinical stakeholders.
• Direct AI coding agents and ensure security and architecture fit.
