Job summary

AES Corporation in Indianapolis is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer – Systems Integration to own the electrical and functional integration of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) subsystems in the field, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performance operation across diverse project environments.

You will lead end-to-end systems engineering for BESS products, develop system-level requirements and interface control documents, review designs, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Systems/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in BESS or complex electromechanical system development and integration.
• Strong experience with electrical systems, energy storage, controls, and power electronics.
• Experience working across multiple OEMs and integrators.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end systems engineering for BESS products from requirements definition through deployment and operation.
• Develop and maintain system-level requirements, ICDs, specifications, and compliance matrices.
• Integrate multiple subsystems including energy storage, PCS, safety, controls, and communications.
• Review and approve BESS electrical and controls designs, including schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement of BESS integration practices.
