Job summary

Ford Energy seeks a Senior Service Lab Technician in Dearborn, MI to diagnose, test, and develop service procedures for BESS. The role bridges engineering, QA, and field service with occasional field visits.

You will simulate environmental faults, perform complex electrical diagnostics, and validate repair methodologies, champion HV safety, mentor technicians, and contribute to RCA to improve reliability.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or equivalent.
• Experience: 5+ years in a development/quality lab or manufacturing repair with HV or BESS.
• Strong working knowledge of DC up to 1500V and three-phase AC.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Experience with CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP, Ethernet networks.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and high-voltage safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Ford's tech roadmap with lab testing insights and data.
• Author and validate SOPs, safety guides, and TSBS for field technicians.
• Document test logs and failure data for design and QA teams.
• Support cost structures for third-party service providers with data.
• Perform diagnostics and fault isolation on field-returned BESS components.
• Use diagnostics software and hardware tools to identify failures.
