Job summary

Ford Energy in Dearborn, Michigan, is seeking a BESS Module Design & Release Engineer to own design and release of battery modules, including cell integration, enclosure, thermal management, interconnects, and safety features from concept to production release.

You will work with internal design, test, quality, and manufacturing teams, plus suppliers, to ensure safety, performance, durability, and manufacturability while meeting program timing and standards such as UL 1973 and IEC 62619.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• 3+ years of design & release engineering or product engineering experience, preferably in BESS or automotive.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVPR, BOM/BOD and design release docs.
• Experience partnering with Purchasing or supply chain teams on sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Own design and release responsibilities for BESS battery modules, including cell integration, enclosure, thermal management, interconnects, and safety features.
• Develop and maintain subsystem specifications (SSTS), CTS, BOMs and BODs for module hardware.
• Lead or support DFMEA, DVPR and design reviews to ensure safety, performance, durability, and manufacturability.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for issues identified during testing or field operations.
• Comply with standards including UL 1973, UL 9540/9540A, IEC 62619 and Ford internal specs.
• Consume and act on DV/PV test results and incorporate into design updates.
