Job summary
Halliburton Energy Services is seeking a Principal Battery Energy Storage System Engineer to lead the integration and lifecycle management of BESS for advanced power generation. You will coordinate electrical integration, protection, controls, and safety across multi-disciplinary teams and external vendors.
Focus areas include AI-driven data center support, behind-the-meter generation, microgrids, and complex power systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Electrical/Power Systems or related field.
- Minimum 7 years in power systems, energy storage, or data center power projects incl. BESS.
- Experience integrating BESS with generation assets and microgrids.
- Strong knowledge of battery tech, power conversion, protection and controls.
- Experience reviewing EPC/vendor packages and technical specs.
- Strong systems engineering judgment and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical requirements and performance specs for BESS installations.
- Evaluate BESS tech, architectures, suppliers; support vendor selection.
- Define electrical integration between BESS, assets, MV distribution, microgrids.
- Establish protection, controls, energy management requirements.
- Develop operating philosophies for normal, islanded, and abnormal conditions.
- Collaborate across teams to meet technical and business needs.
