Job summary

Lyten is seeking a Battery Technician to support the Failure Analysis team on-site in the Bay Area and beyond. The role involves disassembling cells, documenting data, and identifying root causes of battery failures across multiple cell formats.

You will collaborate with FA, Manufacturing, and Quality engineers, perform battery characterization using CT scans, microscopy, and other techniques, and help maintain safety and high data quality while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a production environment.
• Minimum 3 years in a clean-room/dry-room environment.
• Experience in glovebox environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean standards/methodologies.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel between Baytech, San Leandro, and Reno.

Responsibilities

• Perform destructive physical analysis (DPA) and workflow optimization: disassemble cells, improve R&D workflow, identify root cause, document data and observations.
• Identify, escalate, and resolve cell manufacturing quality issues with FA, Manufacturing, and Quality engineers.
• Monitor cell quality with routine DPA, identify root causes, and implement countermeasures and corrective actions.
• Battery characterization: perform failure analysis techniques (photo documentation, optical microscopy, SEM, CT scans).
• Inventory management: maintain inventory accuracy with attention to detail.
• Support FA team: communicate and cooperate with engineers and colleagues.
• Laboratory upkeep: maintain clean, safe workspace and improve processes.
• Documentation: document results, collect and analyze data, and prepare stakeholders reports.
• Follow SOPs and suggest improvements for SOP implementation.
• Travel between Baytech, San Leandro, and Reno as needed.
