Lyten is seeking a Staff Battery Management System Engineer to design, implement, and test advanced BMS software for lithium‑sulfur battery packs. You will develop state estimation algorithms, embedded controls, and lead hardware/software integration while mentoring a junior engineer and collaborating across product teams.

This role also involves documenting technical work and contributing to ongoing research. This role is based in San Jose, CA, as Lyten scales across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
• 7 years (5 years with Master's/3 years with PhD) of experience in battery management system engineering.
• Experience with BMS software and state estimation for battery packs.
• Experience with BMS hardware, modeling in Simulink, MIL/HIL testing.
• Strong programming skills and knowledge of cell balancing and protection.

Responsabilités

• Develop state of charge, state of health, and state of power algorithms for lithium sulfur batteries.
• Develop and maintain the embedded governing software for BMS controllers.
• Lead integration efforts of BMS hardware and software with battery packs.
• Test and validate BMS systems with lithium sulfur battery packs.
• Collaborate across teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Write and maintain technical documentation.
• Participate in technical reviews and guide the future of BMS development at Lyten.
• Mentor a junior team member to accomplish BMS software development tasks.
