Amprius Technologies is hiring a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer to own the process parameters, first-pass yield, and throughput for cell-assembly stations on the Fremont, CA production floor. You will lead front-end and back-end processes, develop recipes, run structured experiments, and drive improvements as new pilot-line equipment comes online.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Senior: 5+ years of process/manufacturing engineering in Li-ion cell production.
• Hands-on experience with cell-assembly equipment and processes (notching/slitting, stacking/winding, tab welding, pouch forming/sealing, electrolyte filling, degassing).
• Proven end-to-end yield or throughput improvements with data-driven actions.
• Proficiency with DOE and statistical analysis (JMP, Minitab), SPC, PFMEA, and Gage R&R.
• Understanding of how assembly parameters affect cell performance, safety, and yield.
• Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, writes SOPs, and communicates clearly.
• Able to work in a dry room and on the production floor; committed to safety.

Responsibilities

• Own process parameters for your assigned cell-assembly stations: develop recipes, define and qualify process windows, and maintain process specifications and control plans.
• Design and run structured experiments (DOE) to optimize parameters against yield, cycle time, and cell performance, and release results as specifications and SOPs.
• Own first-pass yield and scrap: build defect Pareto analyses, lead root-cause investigations, and drive CAPAs to closure.
• Drive throughput: measure OEE and cycle time, identify bottlenecks, line-balancing and changeover reduction.
• Implement SPC and inline inspection on critical process parameters; set up data capture for visibility by station, product, and shift.
• Lead PFMEAs and control plans for new/changed processes; qualify changes with capability studies before release to production.
• Partner with equipment vendors, maintenance, and controls engineering to resolve tool issues; support FAT/SAT and new-tool introduction.
• Write and maintain SOPs/work instructions; train/mentor technicians and operators.
• Support daily production: troubleshoot excursions, disposition nonconforming material, respond to escalations.
• Apply lean and Six Sigma methods to continuous improvement across the line; safe handling of electrolyte, Li-ion cells, and dry-room operations.
• Collaborate with R&D to develop new processes for new products; maintain active role in internal CI efforts.
• Mentor and supervise lab technicians as required.
