Job summary

Optimal Dynamics seeks a Senior or Staff Backend Software Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team and shape the foundation powering intelligent transportation logistics technology.

You’ll own systems, services, and tooling enabling product teams to ship quickly and safely, with impact across customer deployments. Expect a high-leverage role spanning internal tools, infrastructure, and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on Infrastructure & Platform Engineering experience.
• Proven track record of scaling cloud-native systems.
• Strong Python 3 expertise and AWS experience.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar).
• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MySQL, SQL Server, or similar).
• Hands-on IaC tools (Terraform, Spacelift, CloudFormation), observability, monitoring, and incident response.
• Hands-on containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
• Experience improving DevEx by tooling, pipelines, and automation.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
• Leadership and mentorship across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale core infrastructure to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
• Build and improve tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and workflows to boost developer productivity.
• Champion security-by-design principles and implement safeguards without slowing innovation.
• Mentor engineers and guide platform strategy across teams.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to balance speed, cost, and resilience.
• Operate in a dynamic startup environment and contribute wherever needed.
