Trunk Tools is seeking a platform generalist with deep backend depth to own and evolve backend services and platform infrastructure. You will work across teams, write code, design systems, and leverage AI coding agents to accelerate delivery.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, cross-team collaboration, and building scalable, observable systems in a fast-growing startup environment with remote and hybrid options.

Qualifications

• Deep, broad backend experience on complex systems.
• Fluent in TypeScript, Python, and Go, with additional languages a plus.
• Experience designing scalable platform infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve core backend services and platform infrastructure.
• Architect distributed systems with clear API contracts and data models.
• Design asynchronous, event-driven systems using queues and workers.
• Integrate third-party platforms and ensure reliability at scale.
• Build self-service platform capabilities for product teams.
• Shape data architecture across relational and document stores.
