Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong backend focus and full-stack capabilities to design, build, test, and maintain scalable software systems. You will architect backend services, develop APIs, and collaborate with the team to deliver reliable, high-performance applications.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in backend systems, cloud-native architectures, testing, and modern CI/CD practices while contributing across the full stack when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 4-8 years (or 2-6 with Master’s) of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend experience with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices.
• Create and maintain testing architecture plans and system design for software applications.
• Build, test, and maintain high-performance, secure, and reliable applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, customers, and engineers to deliver new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following best practices.
• Review code and mentor junior engineers.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure for applications.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
