Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus and full-stack capabilities to design, build, test and maintain scalable software systems. The role emphasizes architecting backend services, APIs, and cloud-native solutions while collaborating across teams.

The ideal candidate will have deep backend experience, strong testing practices, and familiarity with CI/CD and agile ceremonies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12-15+ years of professional software development experience (or 10-13 with Master’s).
• Strong backend development with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, including native queries.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Relational databases experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with AWS/Azure/Google Cloud and Jira/Confluence; Docker/Kubernetes; Git/GitLab.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices.
• Create and maintain testing architecture plans and system design.
• Build, test, and maintain high-performance, secure applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, customers, and engineers to deliver features.
• Write clean, well-tested code and review junior engineers’ work.
• Mentor junior engineers and optimize performance and reliability.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Act as a technical expert across multiple projects.
