Job summary

Cyclops is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a backend focus to own the technical direction and production behavior of critical services. You will work on a backend-first stack with occasional UI work, shaping solutions in a fast-paced product environment.

You will design APIs, model data in PostgreSQL, and take ownership from requirements to production. Strong emphasis on reliability, observability, and cross-team collaboration with Product and Engineering Managers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Backend expertise with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience owning a service end-to-end from requirements to production support.
• Strong API design with clear data boundaries and error handling.
• Familiarity with microservices and platform-level interactions.
• Experience with SQL data modeling and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend-focused features using TypeScript/Node.js; build and evolve REST APIs.
• Model data in PostgreSQL: migrations, integrity, and performance.
• Own services end-to-end and drive integrations with external partners as needed.
• Monitor production behavior; diagnose incidents and improve reliability patterns.
• Improve observability with logs and metrics; propose reliability/performance improvements.
• Engage in tech spikes to translate unclear problems into concrete plans.
• Collaborate with Product and EM to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguity.
• Review code and mentor engineers; contribute to UI tasks when needed.
