Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Extensive experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Experience delivering consumer experiences using UI frameworks like React.
• 2+ years in search or related recommendation engines.
• Proven ability to plan and execute major features and deprecations with high-quality code.
• Comfort with ambiguity and understanding system architectures from low-level to large-scale.
• Strong written and verbal communication for global collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and manage risks.
• Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own team operations and on-call readiness with playbooks and monitoring.
• Raise quality and ownership by setting code review standards and sharing best practices.
• Mentor and develop talent through feedback and exemplify best practices.
