Job summary

Atrium in New York City is hiring Senior Backend Engineers to build and scale the core booking platform and external API infrastructure. You will own backend services, third-party integrations, and critical platform decisions while delivering reliable, scalable systems that support growth.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, backend-focused.
• Experience designing and deploying complex backend systems.
• Strong API development and third-party integrations.
• Experience with transactional systems (bookings/payments).
• Relational database modeling and data consistency.
• Solid CS fundamentals and problem solving.
• Willingness to remain hands-on and code.
• Onsite in New York City four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems.
• Build and maintain external APIs for partners and AI agents to interact with live hotel inventory.
• Develop integrations for pricing, reservations, bookings, modifications, and cancellations.
• Design reliable transactional systems with data integrity.
• Own API design, backend architecture, and day-to-day technical decisions.
• Collaborate on foundational architecture and scalability.
• Model relational data for booking and new product categories.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns for future partner integrations.
• Partner with engineering, product, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Write, test, deploy, and maintain production code.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on excellence.
