Job summary

Atrium in New York City is seeking two Senior Backend Software Engineers to develop and scale the company's core booking platform and external API infrastructure. You will build APIs that enable distribution partners and AI agents to price, hold, book, modify, and cancel live hotel inventory.

The Senior Backend Software Engineer will own backend services, third‑party integrations, and architectural decisions while delivering reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, backend focus.
• Experience designing and deploying complex backend systems.
• Strong API development and third‑party integrations experience.
• Relational data modeling and data consistency are essential.
• Hands-on ownership of projects with collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems for a growing marketplace.
• Develop external APIs for distribution partners and AI agents.
• Implement pricing, reservations, bookings, and cancellations flows.
• Own API design, backend architecture, and day‑to‑day decisions.
• Collaborate with staff engineers on foundational architecture and scale.
• Model relational data for existing and new product categories.
• Create reusable engineering patterns for future integrations.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Write, test, deploy, and maintain production code.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and engineering efficiency.
