Job summary

Engine is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer in the United States to design and implement scalable backend systems and public-facing APIs. You will collaborate with Product and Data Science to deliver performant, secure services and own key initiatives that raise efficiency and reliability across the platform.

We value hands-on experience with distributed systems and modern languages (Node.js, TypeScript, Kotlin) and AWS, with a track record of delivering consumer-grade APIs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available distributed systems.
• Experience building public-facing (consumer-grade) APIs and managing versioning, deprecation, and rate limiting.
• Proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, Kotlin (or similar), and AWS is a plus.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, scalability, and system architecture.
