Read AI in Seattle is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead backend systems for our AI-powered productivity platform. You will design, build, and scale services, APIs, and data flows, collaborating with product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists.

You’ll own the full SDLC, ship weekly, and drive reliability, security, and performance improvements in a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and AWS; experience designing distributed cloud-native systems.
• Deep knowledge of API design, OAuth2/JWT, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and AWS.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists to deliver solutions.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment and monitoring.
• Drive technical excellence through code reviews, mentorship, and best practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations and improve reliability and observability.
• Improve system performance and scalability to support growth.
