Job summary

HighLevel is hiring for a senior backend engineer to design and build platform components powering Conversations and Workflows. You’ll work with Node.js and Go on GKE and GCP, focusing on high-throughput, reliable systems and AI-assisted coding practices.

You will own data stores, queues, and APIs at scale, collaborating across teams to ensure performance, resilience and fast delivery to millions of users globally.

Qualifications

• 4+ years backend engineering with Node.js and/or Go.
• Deep systems understanding across stack, prod systems.
• Experience with queueing and async processing (Pub/Sub, Kafka, Cloud Tasks) and proper delivery semantics.
• Database depth: indexing, sharding, replication, migrations at scale (SQL/NoSQL).
• Hands-on with Redis and caching patterns.
• Production cloud infra experience, Kubernetes autoscaling under pressure.
• Strong design-doc writing and rigorous test practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and build platform components and services, ensuring scalable architectures.
• Own components end-to-end: architecture, docs, code, tests, rollout, and health.
• Work on data stores at scale: indexing, sharding, migrations on large datasets.
• Collaborate close to infra: GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks topologies, capacity planning.
• Identify and fix gaps: idempotency, backpressure, cache stampedes, hot shards.
• Debug cross-layer incidents; understand interactions across services.
• Write design docs and RCAs that are clear for engineers.
