Job summary

HighLevel is hiring backend engineers to design and build Node.js/Go services powering multi-channel communications at scale. You will own end-to-end systems, from architecture and code to tests and production health, while handling high throughput and ensuring data integrity.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, queueing with Pub/Sub/Kafka, and data stores across SQL/NoSQL, plus leveraging AI-assisted engineering to produce accurate, production-ready code.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Hands-on with Node.js and/or Go.
• Experience with Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Cloud Tasks.
• Strong SQL/NoSQL database skills.
• Write clear design docs and rigorous tests.
• Champion of AI-assisted engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Node.js/Go services on critical paths with high throughput and low latency.
• Own end-to-end systems: architecture, design docs, code, tests, rollout, and production health.
• Model and optimize data layers across SQL and NoSQL stores.
• Build queuing, caching, and rate-limiting to handle burst traffic gracefully.
• Instrument logs, metrics, traces, and health checks for reliability.
• Debug production incidents and drive post-mortems to closure.
• Review code and mentor peers to improve engineering quality.
