Job summary

Procore Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join the Financial Platform and Insights Division. You’ll own backend initiatives, evolve distributed architectures, and scale resilient financial systems in a hybrid Austin, TX role.

Partner with Product Managers and Architects to design scalable services, manage data streams, and build AI-enabled features, while delivering robust backend performance and React-based frontend components. Immediate start is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years backend development experience in Java and OOP fundamentals.
• Proven experience with event-driven distributed systems (Kafka).
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge: indexing, queries, schema design.
• Experience building interactive web apps with React/JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience applying AI capabilities in software development.
• Strong microservices, RESTful API design, and TDD expertise.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and scale resilient distributed services and backend infrastructure using Java and Ruby.
• Design, implement, and maintain high-throughput data streams and message queues (Kafka).
• Optimise PostgreSQL databases through advanced schema design and query optimization.
• Develop and integrate AI-enabled backend features and workflows.
• Build and maintain frontend components with React.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive a modern service-oriented architecture.
• Own production services including deployment, observability, and distributed tracing.
• Write robust, well-tested code following Test-Driven Development (TDD).
