Job summary

Procore is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Backend to join the Financial Platform and Insights Division. You will own and lead critical backend initiatives, evolve high-throughput distributed architectures, and scale resilient financial systems for a global customer base.

You’ll partner with PMs and architects to design scalable services, manage event-driven data streams with Kafka, optimize PostgreSQL, and build AI-enabled features, while contributing frontend work in React and owning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years backend development in Java.
• Experience with event-driven distributed systems using Apache Kafka.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge: indexing, tuning, schema design.
• Experience with React/JavaScript or TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience building AI-enabled software development.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale resilient distributed services using Java and Ruby.
• Manage high-throughput data streams and Kafka.
• Optimize PostgreSQL with design and tuning.
• Develop AI-enabled backend features.
• Build frontend components with React.
• Collaborate on modern service-oriented architecture.
