Job summary

Mimica is building an AI-powered task mining platform and seeks an experienced backend engineer to scale our MERN stack. You will design scalable architecture, develop backend services, optimize performance, and own operational aspects of what you build.

As part of our early engineering team, you’ll influence technical direction, processes, and culture while collaborating across teams to deliver high-impact features with reliability and security in mind.

Qualifications

• Background in backend development for high-performance production software and scalable architectures.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, and experience with Docker and Kubernetes to build high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Experience designing APIs and managing databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) with focus on query optimization and data handling.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts: microservices, load balancing, caching, and stateless architectures.
• Commitment to high engineering standards, code quality, reliability, and security.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with ability to decompose systems and identify bottlenecks.
• Drive to continuously improve skills and team processes.
• Fluency in English with clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural decisions and collaborate across teams to implement product improvements.
• Develop and optimize a real-time backend service enabling multi-user graph editing and AI model retraining.
• Create libraries and APIs in a Node.js backend to interface with ML components.
• Diagnose fault-tolerance, availability issues, and performance bottlenecks; resolve them.
• Refactor components and services; produce documentation for implementations.
• Provide feedback through pair programming and code reviews; help teammates upskill.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding; take on end-to-end project management as we grow.
