Job summary

MAG’s Senior Backend Engineer role builds the core trading engine powering our market‑making and proprietary trading across prediction‑market venues. You’ll own infrastructure connecting to venues, normalize real‑time data, manage orders and risk controls, and ship resilient systems traders rely on daily.

Based in NYC, you’ll share on‑call duty and influence architecture with a small, senior team. Expect high ownership, fast iteration, and clear impact on trading performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience in distributed or real‑time systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, or C++ and concurrent programming.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and CAP tradeoffs.
• Ability to own large technical surfaces and ship quickly.

Responsibilities

• Build core trading engine powering market-making and proprietary trading across venues.
• Own infrastructure connecting to venues, normalize real‑time data, manage orders and risk controls.
• Collaborate with traders to improve tooling and strategies.
• Work on on‑call rotation and cover one weekend roughly every six weeks.
• Design deterministic, event‑driven systems for matching, settlement, and market‑making flows.
• Develop developer‑first APIs for algorithmic trading integrations.
