Job summary

Talener is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the trading platforms team in NYC. You will design and build low-latency, high-availability systems for real-time market data and order routing.

Work with Java and Python, distributed systems, and CI/CD in an Agile environment. You’ll optimize performance, reliability, and scalability, collaborating with product teams and stakeholders to power electronic trading platforms.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience using Java and Python.
• Strong object-oriented design and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, Solace, RabbitMQ, JMS.
• 2-3 years of PostgreSQL experience; strong SQL skills.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito or similar testing frameworks.
• Strong Linux experience; CI/CD experience.
• Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle build tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support production-grade applications using Java and Python.
• Build scalable, high-performance distributed systems for real-time workflows.
• Develop and maintain low-latency messaging solutions and event-driven applications.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Create automated unit and integration tests to ensure quality.
• Troubleshoot issues in Linux production environments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders in Agile environments.
• Improve performance, scalability, stability, and monitoring capabilities.
• Learn and contribute to market data distribution and financial messaging technologies.
