Job summary

Superhuman is building the AI productivity platform and seeks a Back-End Engineer for the Mail team. You will build real-time services powering AI agent orchestration and message flows, collaborating with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End engineers.

You'll design scalable core platform services, implement infrastructure-as-code, and mentor junior engineers. The role emphasizes reliability, testing, and strong documentation within a remote-first, Vancouver-friendly setup.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of back-end development with strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
• Experience building, deploying, and debugging production systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
• Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.).
• Experience with real-time systems, event-driven architectures, or high-throughput API design is a plus.
• Strong CI/CD and infrastructure as code expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong product instincts and balance between speed and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate high-throughput production services powering AI agent orchestration and data pipelines.
• Design and build core platform services to enable scalable systems.
• Collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End teams to ship AI-powered features end-to-end.
• Build and evolve infrastructure as code for high availability.
• Contribute to an engineering culture with documentation, testing, and reliability.
• Mentor and grow junior engineers on the team.
