Job summary

Superhuman is building the AI productivity platform with a focus on the Mail experience. On the Mail team, backend engineers own real-time systems, AI layer integration, and scalable services that power agent orchestration and data pipelines.

You will collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End teams to ship AI-powered features end to end, and contribute to a culture emphasizing documentation, testing, and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of back-end development experience.
• Experience building, deploying, and debugging production systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
• Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and a perspective on how they change software development.
• Experience with real-time systems, event-driven architectures, or high-throughput API design is a plus.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD and infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate high-throughput production services powering AI agent orchestration and real-time data pipelines.
• Design and build core platform services to enable scalable systems.
• Collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End engineers to ship AI-powered features end to end.
• Build and evolve infrastructure as code, ensuring high availability for all customers.
• Contribute to an engineering culture with strong testing, reliability, and documentation.
