Job summary

Superhuman is seeking a Back-End Engineer on the Mail team to build and operate high-throughput services that power AI workflows and real-time data pipelines. You will design core platform services enabling scale, collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End teams, and contribute to infrastructure as code with a focus on reliability.

The role emphasizes independence, strong product instincts, and mentorship of junior engineers while supporting a remote-friendly, flexible work model.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of back-end development experience.
• Experience building large-scale production systems.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with real-time or high-throughput systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate high-throughput production services powering AI agent orchestration.
• Design and build core platform services to allow our systems to scale.
• Work across the Superhuman product suite — Go, Mail, Docs, or Enterprise — depending on where you and the team see the best fit.
• Collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End engineers to ship AI-powered features end to end.
• Build and evolve infrastructure as code, targeting high availability for both consumer and enterprise customers.
• Mentor and grow junior engineers on the team.
