Scribe in San Francisco offers a Senior Backend Engineer position on the Agents Engineering Team. Hybrid work with three days in the SF office. You will own backend projects from documents workflows to new systems, collaborating across product, design, and frontend teams.

We value depth in systems, performance, and engineering excellence. You’ll contribute to code reviews, testing, observability, and scalable architectures while shaping the next generation of our Specialized Intelligence

Qualifications

5+ years of experience building backend applications at high scale.
Strong Python proficiency and Django familiarity.
Ability to optimize endpoints and database queries for performance.
Advocate for automated testing and robust test coverage.
Experience applying engineering best practices and thoughtful design.
User-centric approach to building reliable backend systems.

Responsibilities

Build and ship backend features in Django monolith for core document workflows and new projects.
Improve performance and reliability by optimizing queries, endpoints, and caching.
Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver scalable experiences.
Contribute to technical discussions and drive architectural clarity.
Uphold code quality with reviews, testing, and observability.
