Job summary

Scribe in San Francisco is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our Core Product Engineering team, delivering backend features for document workflows and integrations.

You will optimize endpoints and queries in Python/Django, write tests, review code, and collaborate with product, design, and frontend teammates to ship reliable, scalable software.

This role is hybrid in SF with 3 days in the office; compensation varies by location and includes equity in Scribe.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building backend applications
• Solid experience with Python
• Able to optimize endpoints and database queries
• Strong advocate for automated testing
• Familiar with engineering best practices
• User-centric and eager to deepen craft

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend features in our Django monolith across core document workflows
• Improve performance and reliability by optimizing queries and caching
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend engineers on scalable experiences
• Incorporate feedback and continuously grow your craft
• Write thoughtful code reviews and solid tests with a focus on observability
