Scribe is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Core Engineering Team, powering document viewing, editing, embeddings, and exports. You’ll own backend projects and collaborate across the stack to deliver high-quality experiences at scale.

Based in San Francisco, this hybrid role emphasizes performance, reliability, testing, and observability. You’ll work with Python/Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, and Terraform on AWS to help us move fast while keeping quality high.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience in high-scale systems.
• Strong Python proficiency.
• Experience optimizing endpoints and database queries.
• Commitment to automated testing.
• Written and tested code with observability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship backend features in Django monolith focusing on document workflows and new projects.
• Improve performance and reliability by optimizing queries, endpoints, and caching.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver scalable experiences.
• Contribute to technical discussions and architectural evolution across the team.
• Maintain strong engineering practices with code reviews, tests, and observability.
