Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our fast-growing engineering team. You’ll work on Product and Product Platform teams, owning backend services and architecture that support our dynamic three-sided marketplace.

This hybrid role requires some in-office time and reports to an Engineering Manager. You’ll mentor junior engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, and tackle large-scale web applications with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in CS or equivalent.
• 5+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with backend tech stacks.
• Experience with service oriented architecture and REST APIs.
• Ability to analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ).

Responsibilities

• Develop, release and run large-scale web applications.
• Define backend architecture and tech stack for a product area.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security for backend systems.
• Transition monolithic codebase to a microservice-based architecture.
• Tackle bleeding-edge technical problems in logistics.
