DoorDash is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join Product and Product Platform teams in SF/NY/Sunnyvale/Seattle. You will set tech direction, lead cross-team initiatives, and shape system roadmaps.

The role emphasizes mentoring, architectural design, and delivering scalable backend services across a 24/7 global platform. Hybrid in-office time is expected, with collaboration across Engineering, Product, Design, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools in the full software lifecycle.
• Ability to analyze and improve efficiency, scalability and stability.
• Experience with service oriented architecture, REST APIs and testing.
• Understanding of modern web stacks (HTTP, REST).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and lead cross-team initiatives.
• Shape architecture and long-term roadmaps for critical systems.
