Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to work across Product and Product Platform teams. You will operate our backend services and architecture, solving key business problems while owning projects end-to-end and mentoring junior engineers.

This role is hybrid with some in-office time and reports to an Engineering Manager. You’ll contribute to a scalable, secure, and high-performance platform powering our three-sided marketplace.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of industry experience in backend engineering.
• Experience with backend stacks and service oriented architectures.
• Proficiency with REST APIs and database systems (SQL/NoSQL).
• Ability to analyze and improve efficiency, scalability and reliability.
• Experience transitioning monoliths to microservices; strong design sense.

Responsibilities

• Develop, release and run large-scale web applications.
• Define the backend architecture and tech stack for a product area.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security.
• Transition monolithic codebase to a microservice architecture.
• Own projects end-to-end and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
