Job summary

Affirm, a remote-first fintech company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Order Platform to shape systems that power orders, captures, refunds, and settlements after checkout. You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and own decisions with long-term impact.

As part of a small, senior team, you will set yearly technical direction, collaborate with product, design, and analytics, and ensure reliability and scalability across the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics.
• Define technical solutions and operational processes.
• Ensure monitoring, incident response, and on-call readiness.
• Mentor engineers and promote code quality.
