Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for Card Ledger & Money Movement. Remote US. You will help build and own backend systems that manage money movement, card ledger data, and merchant integration, collaborating with product, data science, and other engineering teams.

The role emphasizes scalable, correct software, and strong cross-functional communication. You will contribute to a high-growth, remote-first environment with a focus on reliability and extensibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin and building highly available distributed systems.
• Proven ability to write high quality, maintainable code and work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to articulate constraints and trade-offs.
• Identify and lead resolution of project, process or technology issues.
• Maintain and monitor team artifacts, dashboards, and on-call readiness.
• Promote code quality and design standards across the team.
• Develop talent by giving feedback and example-led mentorship.
