Job summary

Raya is seeking Senior Backend Engineers to build and operate core server software on the Core Discovery team, focusing on Maps, Location surfaces, and Directory search. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of hands-on experience and demonstrated leadership, delivering scalable, reliable systems.

You will own location-based services, geospatial indexing, and search infrastructure, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive robust architecture with a modern SDLC and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Proven system design and leadership in growing organizations.
• Experience with location-based systems (geospatial data, indexing, proximity queries).
• Experience building search systems (Elasticsearch or similar) for consumer products.
• Strong data fundamentals with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Interest in AI tools and emerging practices.

Responsibilities

• Product Ownership: Collaborate, build, and lead key components of Core Discovery services, with a focus on Maps and Location surfaces and Directory search experience.
• Collaboration: Work with UX designers and data scientists to ensure comprehensive and user-focused solutions.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with Raya's tech ecosystem, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and innovative solutions.
• User-Centric Development: Prioritize top-tier user experiences using feedback loops and data-driven methodologies.
• Operational Excellence: Navigate the full SDLC with agile practices and CI/CD.
