Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for its Maps platform, shaping its geospatial direction and reusable spatial APIs. This remote-friendly role spans data ingestion, routing foundations, and scalable map services across products.

You'll lead cross-team projects, mentor engineers, and collaborate with leadership to balance performance, reliability, and growth as we expand our connected operations cloud.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years in architect or technical leadership role.
• 4+ years building large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction of the Maps teams.
• Build geospatial systems and integrations that support core features across Samsara products.
• Scale storage, queries and computation for real-time features.
• Consolidate team geospatial solutions into scalable, platform-wide offerings.
• Create agentic solutions that let customers self-serve map data.
• Raise the technical bar through reviews and mentorship.
• Partner with engineering leadership on bets and tradeoffs.
• Represent Samsara externally in talks and community engagement.
