Wheely is seeking a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to join the Mapping team in West London. You will write Go services, build new microservices, and migrate legacy components while keeping latency and reliability at the forefront. The stack includes PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, gRPC, Thrift, AWS, and Kubernetes.

The role offers relocation support, visa sponsorship, and a comprehensive benefits package, with an emphasis on fast delivery and clean, maintainable code.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• Go is used; other strong languages (Python, C++, Java, Ruby) are acceptable.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• At least 1 year of mapping-related work (geospatial data, map-matching, routing).

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices and migrate away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn requirements into designs.
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimizing latency and reliability.
