Job summary

Fetch is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer II to join the Data Platform team. You will architect and evolve systems powering Fetch's data products, covering data pipelines, governed data access, delivery infrastructure, and partner integrations.

You will own problems at the solution level and drive high-impact technical initiatives with cross-functional teams. You will lead reliability, establish quality standards, and mentor peers while shaping technical direction and ensuring phased rollouts

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience with growing ownership.
Background in platform or backend engineering; familiarity with data pipelines or delivery infrastructure is a plus.
Ability to identify and scope ambiguous technical problems and execute solutions.
Experience owning systems used by multiple teams with emphasis on reliability.
History of improving code quality and system health.
Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives.
Strong understanding of data infrastructure fundamentals.
Strong code review instincts and rollout safety.
Mentorship experience with peers.
Fluency in Kubernetes, event streaming, CI/CD, observability tools, and AI-assisted workflows.
Ability to communicate trade-offs and align stakeholders without formal authority.
Comfort in ambiguous, evolving environments with focus on outcomes.
