Job summary

NeuralFrame, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the medical data pipeline that ingests, processes, and delivers data from hospital systems into analytics tools.

You will collaborate with product managers and data engineers to ensure scalable, reliable infrastructure across hospitals, cancer registries, and researchers nationwide. The role involves Rust and async Python for core components, with a focus on performance, correctness, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Python, including packaging, asyncio, Mypy, and Pytest.
• Strong expertise in SQL (PostgreSQL preferred), including schema design and migrations.
• Working experience with MongoDB or another document database.
• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining backend services or data pipelines in production.
• Solid understanding of Git/GitHub workflows and code review.
• Proficiency with Linux command-line tools.
• Ability to verify AI-generated code with types, tests, and CI.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the core backend services that pull Medical data from hospital systems and transform it for analytics and research.
• Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows for large healthcare datasets.
• Build safe distributed systems: async I/O, rate limiting, retries, and ACID guarantees.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, with strong type-checking, unit and integration testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Monitor and improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor other engineers, and help shape engineering best practices.
