Job summary

Flagship Pioneering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend & Data, to own backend data pipelines and EHR integrations on AWS.

You will collaborate with data scientists to map data, package models, and ensure HIPAA-compliant handling of PHI while enabling scalable partner onboarding. You will shape the engineering foundation, establish standards, and help deploy product-ready dashboards and reports for clinicians and partners.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field
• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience
• Healthcare data experience including EHR, FHIR/HL7
• Production AWS, Python, SQL experience
• Experience with AI/ML systems in production
• Startup or zero-to-one experience

Responsibilities

• Build Data and EHR integration platform on AWS
• Extend EHR integrations (athenahealth FHIR APIs)
• Develop AI-assisted tooling with data scientists
• Lead technical go-lives with partner IT teams
