Job summary

HealthLeap in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build core pipelines that move messy clinical data from hospital systems into model inputs, analytics, and the APIs behind clinician tools.

You will ensure data usability and reliability, tracing late data or schema changes and fixing root causes in production. The role requires 5+ years of production data experience with Python and SQL, and comfort with changing external data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production data systems.
• Experience owning pipelines with messy, changing external data.
• Strong data modeling and judgment about correctness, monitoring, and recovery.
• Ability to trace a problem across systems and own the fix in production.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate pipelines from ingestion through transformation and delivery.
• Provide trusted data for ML pipelines, analytics, and APIs.
• Define data contracts and checks for missing records, schema changes, and incorrect values.
• Handle backfills, late data, failures, and recovery.
• Collaborate with integration, ML, and product engineers to move data to the right place.
