Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build backend systems powering growth. You will craft scalable APIs, data models, and services that drive customer acquisition and engagement and work with Product, Data Science, and Analytics teams.

The role emphasizes high-impact, cross-functional collaboration, strong product intuition, and leadership to maintain secure, observable, and performant systems at scale.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and SOA.
• Proven track record delivering complex backend systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with async docs.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Design.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin; experience with both is a plus.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience with experimentation platforms (A/B testing, feature flags).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka/Kinesis.
• Exposure to personalization or messaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive planning and prioritization of projects based on product, technical, and business goals using data-driven decision making.
• Design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and data models that power communications, experimentation, and personalization.
• Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to define and execute strategies for customer acquisition and engagement.
• Establish and uphold engineering best practices to ensure services are secure, observable, and performant at scale.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical excellence.
