Job summary

Fin is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the core systems powering global, high-value payments. You will design and build services that move real money, integrate with payment partners and banks, and ensure the platform is secure, observable, and ready to scale to millions of transactions.

You will work closely with the CEO, CTO, and a small senior team, making foundational architectural decisions and shipping production systems quickly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience with scalable distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript/Node.js and at least one systems language (Rust).
• Experience designing APIs, data models, and integration with payment companies or banks.
• Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containers, and infrastructure as code.
• Proven track record owning critical backend infrastructure and driving architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core backend services that power global payments and account experiences.
• Own key systems end to end, from data models and APIs to deployment and operations.
• Integrate with payment processors, banks, and compliance/identity providers.
• Monitor, tune, and scale backend services for high availability and performance.
• Define and champion backend engineering best practices and architectural patterns.
• Build internal tools and automation to improve developer productivity and reliability.
• Set technical direction for backend architecture with focus on business impact and scalability.
• Review code and mentor other engineers.
• Own our cloud infrastructure setup and deployment workflows.
