Job summary

TheGuarantors is a fintech company modernizing property leasing with AI-driven renter underwriting. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services and to modernize the platform from a monolith to micro-services in a hybrid NYC-based role.

You will own components end-to-end, work with product, QA, and design teams, and help improve reliability and developer experience across services. A strong backend focus with modern tech stack is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with backend focus
• Proficient in Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and Go for production APIs and PostgreSQL data models
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture with monolith migration experience
• Ability to manage complex features end-to-end with cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality work
• Bachelor's in CS or related field; Master's preferred or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Own a slice of the product end-to-end from requirements to production
• Build and extend backend services and React frontends within a micro-service architecture
• Analyze, review, or maintain services, APIs, and data models to support business needs
• Partner with product managers, QA, designers, and engineers across teams
• Communicate updates, risks, blockers, and recommendations clearly
• Improve system reliability, scalability, and developer experience
• Use data and business context to inform decisions
• Manage assigned work independently and meet deadlines
