Job summary

TheGuarantors is seeking a Software Engineer for Risk Solutions in a hybrid NYC setting. You will own the underwriting and pricing platform end-to-end, driving design and delivery of core decisioning systems used to assess risk and pricing applicants.

You’ll collaborate across product, design, operations, and risk analytics to deliver high-impact solutions while adhering to regulatory standards and best engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience with Go/Java/Python/C#.
• Ability to independently drive complex engineering projects end-to-end.
• Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI) and IaC tooling like Terraform.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own underwriting and pricing platform end-to-end from requirements through development, QA, and production.
• Lead technical design discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, and write clean, maintainable code.
• Build and extend the critical decisioning systems at the core of underwriting and pricing.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, Risk analysts, and Engineering to align on priorities.
• Communicate updates, risks, blockers, and recommendations clearly and proactively.
• Identify opportunities to improve team processes, engineering output, and user experience.
• Manage assigned work independently and meet deadlines and deliverables.
• Ensure work complies with policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
