Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a backend software engineer to own the design and delivery of financing products and features, from architecture through production launch, ensuring correctness and safety across high‑value lending operations.

You will build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks that support loan lifecycle management, risk calculations, and real-time position tracking, while mentoring others and raising the bar on code quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with production ownership of services handling high-reliability or financial workloads.
• Proven ability to design, build, and scale service-oriented architectures in Go, Java, or a comparable backend language.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems where correctness, availability, and data integrity are critical.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise code quality across a team.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of new financing products and features, from architecture through production launch, ensuring correctness and safety across high-value lending operations.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks that support loan lifecycle management, risk calculations, and real-time position tracking.
• Drive engineering excellence by improving developer tooling, testing infrastructure, monitoring, and operational reliability across financing systems.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Operations, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, well-scoped technical solutions each quarter.
• Lead technical initiatives that strengthen system resilience, reduce operational risk, and support the team's ability to ship safely at speed.
