Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Financing Engineering team within the Institutional group. You will design, build, and scale backend services that manage billions in loans across Portfolio Margin, Trade Finance, and lending, enabling lenders to operate confidently on our platform.

Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with production ownership.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and observability in a cloud-native environment.
• Ability to mentor engineers and lead technical design reviews.
• Familiarity with high-reliability or financial workloads.

Responsibilities

• Own design and delivery of financing products from architecture to production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks for loan lifecycle management.
• Improve tooling, testing, monitoring, and operational reliability across financing systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Operations, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Lead technical initiatives to strengthen system resilience and enable safe, fast shipping.
