Job summary

Sotalent is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer for its Protection team. You will own the backend architecture, from initial implementation to deployment and long-term monitoring, building critical integrations with major payment providers and fraud prevention platforms.

Remote role within the United States, you will ensure reliability, ship frequent improvements, and contribute to the evolution of engineering practices while working with cross-functional teams in a fully distributed

Qualifications

• Extensive experience owning backend systems across the full lifecycle.
• Strong system design skills for scalable architectures in evolving environments.
• Experience building payment, risk, or fraud prevention related systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust backend systems with scalable data models.
• Develop workflows for payment dispute management including evidence collection and tracking.
• Integrate with fraud prevention providers to unify risk management.
• Implement risk signals like velocity rules and device fingerprinting.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering leadership to solve merchant challenges.
• Ensure reliability and monitoring for high-impact workflows.
• Contribute to engineering practices and tooling evolution.
